Stripe has finalized the acquisition of OpenRouter, an AI gateway startup, in a deal valued at over $7 billion, according to Bloomberg.

OpenRouter, often likened to being the 'Stripe for AI,' provides customers with a single access point to optimize tasks across 400+ AI models without vendor lock-in.

Backed by major investors such as Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures, and Google’s CapitalG, OpenRouter previously raised $113 million in a Series B at a $1.3 billion valuation.

The platform boasts 8 million global users, making it a significant player in AI model orchestration and positioning Stripe as a powerhouse in AI infrastructure.
