Cursor ARR Hits $500M
Jun 6, 2025
Anysphere’s flagship product, Cursor, is an AI-powered code editor that seamlessly integrates advanced generative AI capabilities directly into a Visual Studio Code–based environment. It empowers developers across Windows, macOS, and Linux with a suite of powerful tools—ranging from natural-language-driven code generation to intelligent codebase queries—that transform coding into an intuitive, conversational experience.
Built to address the pain points of slow, repetitive development workflows, Cursor offers features such as next-line prediction, speculative multi-file rewrites, and an embedded chat interface for querying the codebase. These capabilities, often termed “vibe coding,” allow users to instruct the editor in plain English, enabling it to produce full code blocks, perform refactorings, and surface relevant documentation more efficiently than typical autocomplete tools.
Since its launch in 2023, Cursor has shown meteoric growth. Seed funding of $8 M came from OpenAI’s Startup Fund, followed by a $60 M Series A in August 2024 valuing the company at $400 M. In January 2025, a $105 M Series B propelled the valuation to $2.5 B, with Cursor reporting $100 M in ARR. Most recently, in May 2025, Anysphere closed a $900 M Series C at a $9 B valuation, with its ARR skyrocketing to $500 M by May—making Cursor one of the fastest-growing software platforms historically.
