Base44 ARR Hit $100M
Mar 5, 2026
Base44 is an AI-powered “vibe coding” platform that allows anyone to build full-stack applications using natural language prompts. Instead of writing code, users simply describe what they want to build, and Base44 automatically generates the frontend, backend, database, authentication, and deployment infrastructure.
The platform targets founders, product teams, developers, and non-technical creators who want to rapidly build production-ready web applications without managing complex engineering stacks. By combining a chat-style interface with automated infrastructure provisioning, Base44 dramatically reduces the time required to launch software products from weeks or months to just minutes.
The company was founded by solo founder Maor Shlomo, a former CTO of Explorium, and quickly became one of the fastest-growing AI developer tools. Base44 reached $1M ARR just three weeks after launch, grew to 300,000+ users within six months, and hit $3.5M ARR before being acquired by website-building giant Wix for $80 million in cash in June 2025. At the time of the acquisition, the company had fewer than ten employees and was largely bootstrapped, making it one of the most notable solo-founder exits during the AI startup boom.
Following the acquisition, Base44 continued scaling rapidly inside the Wix ecosystem. The platform expanded to over 2 million users, enabling millions of apps to be generated through its AI development workflow. Less than a year after the acquisition, Base44 reportedly reached $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), highlighting explosive demand for AI-driven software creation tools and signaling a broader shift toward “AI-native” development platforms where building software becomes as simple as describing it.
