Founded by David Holz, a co-founder of Leap Motion, Midjourney officially entered its open beta phase on July 12, 2022.

The process of image generation typically involves the use of a command, where users input descriptions of their desired images. The AI then responds with four unique visuals based on the given prompt, which can be further refined or upscaled.


  • It has now over 21 million members on Discord. Though there is no formal announcement about its ARR, data shows it reached $200M ARR in 2 years with 10 people. But now, Aragon AI CEO Wesley Tian said Midjourney's ARR hits $500M with 40 people.
